I can select ffdshow as the audio codec for AAC under videos, but not under TV for the LATM AAC codec.
But I cannot get my HTPC to do the same, unless I use WASAPI, which is not an ideal solution as it introduces some other audio issues. My Sony TV and my xbox 360 when it was linked to 7MC as an extender do transcode the HE-AAC 5.1 to DD 5.1 on the fly. Some early Freeview HD tuners / PVRs / TVs do not handle it correctly. To make things worse, the specification was changed quite late in the game, and I believe it is exclusive to the UK, so a relatively small market, hence not much info online about how to fix. Unfortunately, my understanding is that Freeview HD uses a different type of AAC than Freesat HD, its called HE-AAC.
